Maybelline and Clinique are two prominent companies within the beauty industry. This research explores how each company utilizes design concepts and elements in magazine advertisements to define their unique brand personalities. The demographics of each, one being drugstore and one being high end, are also taken into consideration as determined by the characteristics of the magazines in which they each choose to portray their advertisements. Researcher analyzed all 2017 issues of Glamour and Seventeen magazines for advertisements of both companies and found that Clinique advertisements were exclusively found in Glamour while Maybelline advertisements were only found in Seventeen, finding that the two have established unique brands through the utilization of design in their print advertisements.
